BBBS Recruitment
In a previous post, I mused on “Men and women not sharing in the caring“… and the discrepancy between the numbers of men and women that volunteer for Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Since that post was written, however, we had made some efforts to combat that.
I actually developed a couple ads. I call them ads, but really they’re social media graphics. But, terminology aside, the focus of them was to ask the question… “Do you know someone who’d make a great Big Brother? Let them know!”
These ads weren’t aimed at the men in the audience. They were aimed at the women… the biggest segment of their audience. And this approach is going to be at the heart of something I’m looking to try on a more concerted effort with them shortly – have ads like these that appeal to women… use word of mouth to get interested women to nudge suitable men in their lives to give the program a consider.
These ads get posted, women follow a link to a page where a group of ads is waiting, each one shareable. So they go to the page, and share an ad aimed directly at men on their male friends’ Facebook feed, or send it directly to them.
But a sampling of the ads created and that could be created. I’ve got a large group with different ages for the Bigs, different activities being engaged in. Anyone following the link to the share page would have their choice of images, depending on who they want to send it to. Certainly there could be a “Send To A Friend” option, and this is only relying on organic outreach. Doesn’t even begin to cover paid targeted advertising on Facebook and Instagram.
It’s all conceptual at this point. I’ve got the plan forming… once we go forward and make it happen I’ll update this with a case study. We’ll see how it goes.
Fun stuff.
